Free Consultation

If you'd like to discuss what I can offer, we can arrange a time to chat on the phone to discuss what you're interested in.  If it sounds like a good fit, I will meet with you and, if applicable, your partner in-person.  At that time we can talk some more about what you're looking for.  Only if you decide to hire me do you have to pay a $100 retainer fee.

Phone & Email Support

Once I'm your doula, you have 24/7 email support from 37 weeks until 2 weeks postpartum.

2 Prenatal Visits

During your first prenatal visit, we'll discuss your desires, your birth plan, any particular fears you have, and practice some comfort measures.  At your second prenatal appointment, we will refine your birth plan, practice measures again (practice is always time well spent), and discuss postpartum self-care and baby care.

During labor

Once we determine that you are in active labor, I will either come to your home or meet you at the birth location.  I provide continuous labor support and will remain with you for at least one hour postpartum to answer any questions and to assist with the first nursing of the baby if you are breastfeeding.

Baby’s first feeding Support

There is ample evidence of the importance of the first hour after a baby is born.  I will ensure that you are given the space and time for skin-to-skin contact after delivery and ensure the baby is nursing.

Postpartum follow-up visit

Within one week after the birth, I will make an in-home visit to discuss the birth, answer any questions about postpartum self-care (including discussing symptoms of postpartum depression), and answer any questions about caring for your newborn.  For two weeks postpartum I provide 24/7 phone and email advice.

As a Doula, I  Do Not:

Perform any clinical tasks

I'm not a midwife or OB.  I cannot diagnose any conditions and am not a substitute for quality maternity care.

Make decisions for you

Although I am happy to provide information and advice, ultimately decisions during pregnancy and labor are yours.  I provide the support necessary for you to make the decision that is right for you.

Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience

My job is to ensure you get the birth you desire, whether that is at home with the support of a midwife or in a hospital with an epidural. Although I believe breastmilk is the most complete nutritional package for a baby, I will not judge you if you decide to not breastfeed.  I will support you in being the best parent you can, meeting you at where you are in your journey.

Postpartum Doula Services

Even if I wasn't your birth doula, I am happy to provide postpartum doula services!  These are wide-ranging and can include things like nursing support, meal cooking, baby care while the parents take a nap and/or shower, light housecleaning, sibling care, dog walking, and attending doctor visits.  Just ask what you'd like and we'll discuss options!
